Detronik

Detronik is a Detroit based Multi-Media visionary duo comprised of Micho and StudioKlinicSeven. Detronik was conceived by Micho (aka The Vision Mercenary) within Detroit’s underground scene in the early to mid 90’s. Detroniks introduction into the scene closely paralleled many of Detroit’s Techno Originators. Micho (aka Synthetic in early 90’s) evolved with the likes of Richie Hawtin, AUX 88, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, and many others. Detroniks specialty is to transform the environment for complete assimilation of the crowd whether warehouse, club, or open air. Detronik is most identifiable by its inclusion of surveillance technology and retro televisions into its installations. In addition to its self preservation DIY “borg” like nature, Detronik develops interactive environments and reactive visual response systems that directly integrate their older technology including automated mechanized cameras and midi controllers. Detronik has no limits in its visual dispersal and is committed to breach all pre-conceived barriers of a “VJ”. Detronik is a very intense duo and has been known to go as far as to strap projectors to their vehicles for their “vision assaults” which are guerilla style street projections. Detronik has also developed a programming interface for their spline mapping projections thus further severing any potential limitations for precise contour image projection. This year Detronik merged into a duo with its inclusion of StudioKlinicSeven from New York. StudioKlinicSeven has already achieved major world recognition as a photographer and is most known for her abandonment series taken amongst many of Detroit’s vacant buildings. Together their mutual entity Detronik:Seven formulate a concentrated visual unit that will attack with precise accuracy any event their part of. If Detronik is there, prepare yourself for a distinct blend of low-fi / hi-tech intricacy unlike any other “VJ”.
